AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player. She plays as captain and striker with the San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) which is the top division of women's soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team alongside Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from 2018 until 2020. [8][9] Morgan was drafted by the Western New York Flash at first place in the 2011 WPS Draft. She had graduated from Berkeley in the early part of the year. Morgan also played for California Golden Bears. In the team, she made her professional debut and helped the team win the league championship. Morgan was just 22 at the time was the youngest athlete on the national team at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team was runner-up. At the 2012 London Olympics Morgan scored the match-winning goal in the 123rd minute of the semi-final against Canada. She finished 2012 with 28 goals and 21 assists as she joined Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and provide 20 assists within the same year, she became the sixth and the youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in one season. She was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and was the FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan played a key role in helping the United States winning their titles during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2019. She was named to both the Dream Team for both tournaments. In 2019, she won the Silver Boot.
